  5. out of 5 stars Pentagram - 'Sub-Basement' (Black Widow Records) Reviewed in the United States on December 20, Of all the Black Widow label releases that I was heavily getting into around the early 's, I wasn't even aware of this title until a few years ago/5(20).
  6. With the exhuming of Pentagram's '70s musical corpse now on its way to becoming an international pass-time, it's only fitting that the seminal underground band attempt to capitalize on the unexpected surge of interest by releasing the occasional new studio album, as well. Of course the term 'band' is used loosely here, for, like its predecessor, 's Review Your Choices, Sub-Basement finds.
  7. "Sub-Basement" was the second output of this line-up and is regarded as the most Rock N' Roll effort of the doomsters ever. On top of PENTAGRAM's perfect Doom sound an irresistible groove and capturing catchiness was added, which made the album an all time favourite for many fans. "Sub-Basement" will kick your ass and twist your legs.
  8. Originally the album was planned for release on September the 11th, , but Black Widow Records pushed the release back in light of the attacks on the World Trade Center on that day. Joe Hasselvander had assembled a touring line-up to support this album, however just one month later Bobby Liebling licensed older Pentagram material to Relapse.
